Scholarships in South Korea
GOVERNMENT INVITATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
According to the terms of cultural and educational exchange agreements,
the Korean government selects international students and offers them
scholarships in the interests of stimulating educational exchange and promoting
friendly relations internationally.
Beginning with the first semester, tuition is waived for students who are
selected as government scholarship students, and master's students receive
tuition support for four semesters, while doctorate students receive support for
five semesters. In addition, students receive monthly support from the National
Institute for International Education Development so that they may focus on
their studies.

Selection
Process
+ Through the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development and the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the National Institute for International
Education Development commissions overseas embassies to select scholarship
candidates
+ Selection of scholarship candidates through discussion between overseas
embassies and country of residence: acceptance of application and selection
screening
+ Selection of scholarship student through the National Institute for
International Education Development's selection committee
+ The National Institute for International Education Development informs
selection results through the Ministry of Education and Human Resources
Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Application
Period
+ Because the selection process is conducted through each country's Korean
embassy, application documents should be turned in to the respective embassies.
Inquiries about the selection process schedule should be made towards the end of
December.
