Re: Jacob Friedrich Brodbeck

Jacob Brodbeck (1821 - 1910) was a German educated immigrant to Texas
(1846) who became a school teacher in the Luckenback area. There is
some evidence he flew a clock-spring powered aircraft in 1865. I
would appreciate any information about this subject.

Also, I have a photograph, date unknown but the negative is on glass,
which shows a crashed aircraft, perhaps Brodbeck's. There are several
men in the photo. Can this picture be dated by the fashion of the
men's clothes?

Books on dating photographs often suggest using clothing styles to
date them. Another simple thing is to establish the time frame of when
glass plate negatives were used.

I just read a book on dating photos over the holidays, and will try
to remember to check it sometime in the next couple of days to find
the names of some of the books she recommends for dating clothing
stypes (probably later this week or early next week; things are a
little hectic right now)
