Archivist:  The State Archives and Records Program, a work unit within the
State Historical Society of Iowa, looks to hire a professional archivist.

Duties will include:
· Development of appropriate processing plan for the Frederick M. Hubbell
Trust Collection; securing administrative approval for processing plan;
determining supplies required to process the collection; determining
portions of the collection in need of intensive preservation and
conservation treatment; preparing a preservation plan for the collection;
coordinating proper preservation and conservation treatments for portions of
the Collection as appropriate; implementing the processing plan; preparing
appropriate finding aids for the collection (both manual and automated).
· Direct the work of students, interns and volunteers in the arrangement and
preparation of the Hubbell Collection for public use.
· Under guidance of State Archivist, solicit additional records from the
Hubbell family to augment the Hubbell Trust Collection.
· Participate in work unit and agency planning and program development when
appropriate.
· Provide assistance to work unit reference staff as needed when reference
questions relate to the records of the Hubbell Collection or when the
Hubbell Collection may hold documents pertaining to specific reference
questions.

Qualifications:  M.A. in history or related field with at least six semester
hours of archives education credits (or a combination of education and
experience to meet minimum criteria for classification) and two years
full-time equivalent experience.  Experience with large collections of
business records and archives automation highly desired.

This is a full-time, temporary (estimated to be 2.5 years) position with a
appropriate benefits through the State of Iowa's Professional Employer
Organization, Merit Resources, Inc.  Starting salary: $35,000 plus Merit
Resources, Inc. benefits package.
