Re: Paper samples

I just came across a reference called Before Photocopying: The Art and
History of Mechanical Copying 1780-1938 by Barbara J. Rhodes and William W.
Streeter. I don't have any further publication information. I read about
this book in a message about the Guild of Book Workers, New York Chapter, on
the Ex Libris rare books mailing list. Contact information was Olga
Souza-Marder, The LuEsther T. Mertz Library, The New York Botanical Garden,
Bronx, NY 10458 Tel.:718-817-8754, Fax: 718-817-8956, e-mail:
omarder@nybg.org.

I know this ends before the 1950s, but it might still have applicable
information. I haven't seen the book itself, just noticed that it exists.

Subject: Paper samples

Good Morning,

As I sit here in the office pondering yet another strange looking
"photocopy" from the 1950s, I was wondering if there exists a manual that
contains examples of all the various types of duplicates, faxes,
mimeographs, etc. that one might run into. Pictures of each type would be
good, but an actual compilation of sheets produced by each of these
processes would be really great.

Can anyone tell me if such a resource exists?

Thanks,
Patrick
