            GRANT SPECIALIST: TEXAS MONTHLY MAGAZINE COLLECTION

Qualified applicants are invited to apply for the position of Grant
Specialist to work as a project archivist in arranging and describing the
first five years of the Editorial Series of the Texas Monthly Magazine
Archives, approximately 50 linear feet of the 900 linear foot collection.
Additional responsibilities include creating a finding aid, a MARC record
for the collection, and a correspondents index.

The qualifications for this position include demonstrated experience in
arranging and describing archival collections, and knowledge of basic
preservation practices.  An ALA-accredited masters degree is preferred.

The Texas Monthly Magazine Archives is part of the Southwestern Writers
Collection at Southwest Texas State University.  This position is funded as
part of a grant from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

Working under the direction of the Curator, Special Collections and the
Archivist, Southwestern Writers Collection, the Grant Specialist will work
40 hours per week from April 1 through August 30, 2000.  The rate of pay is
$15.73.
