National Association for Olmsted Parks
The National Association for Olmsted Parks, in cooperation with the
National Park Service, is seeking 2 research assistants to research
and document information relating to the landscape design documents of
Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr. and successor firms. Work will be mainly
performed at the Library of Congress, and will primarily involve use
of microfilmed resources. The work will be done in support of a
project to create an Internet-accessible database to facilitate the
study and preservation of the extensive Olmsted design legacy across
the country.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:
1. Knowledge of the principles of library science and archives
management
2. Experience with data management software (Foxpro preferred)
3. Experience with data entry
4. Attention to detail
This is a 9-month grant funded position, subject to renewal. Research
assistants will work 30 hours per week at the rate of $12.00 per hour.
