Re: HELP! Adventures in Starting a New Archive!



Dear Matt,

  Perhaps do a literature search and look for articles that describe the
ongoing committments institutions must make if they are going to undertake
this.  The plus is that the are obviously starting early, so if you could
find articles that also talk about howo much sense it makes to start when
you're small and can get a grip on it ?...  I agree with the other responder
that said you need someone with clout to help make this happen.
  For the budget, I would put in salary for you, for a part-time technician
that can assist with the processing, for storage materials including boxes
and file folders and a desk, chair and phone for you.
When they (the Board) is deciding whether to commit to this over the long
haul, they also need to deteremine WHY they are doing this.  Is it to be a
community resource, or only a campus resource?  Know this isn't much and
it's pretty basic, but ...
