cold storage rooms for archival collections
21 January 2000
Hello from Phoenix, Arizona. I am on a mission to compile a list of institutions that have cold storage rooms for archival collections.
Could you please be so kind and share with me 1) the size of your cold storage room or vault, 2) the "set points" for temperature and relative humidity in the room, and 3) the maximum daily fluctuations (+/-).
We are currently retrofitting a Kolpak walk-in refrigerator measuring 20 ft. x 33 ft. by 8.5 ft., with 50 degrees F (+/- 2 degrees), and 35% RH (+/-2%). The room will house a variety of archival and special material including paper, photography, and magnetic tapes.
Many thanks in advance. Please reply to
