Re: Radio TV information

January 25, 2000

Brian,

Your message caught me in the middle of "Only Yesterday,
An Informal History of the 1920's" by Frederick Allen.
(A fascinating book, btw, to understand the transition from
the Victorian era to modern America.)

According to Allen, the first radio station, KDKA, opened in
east Pittsburgh on November 2, 1920 to carry the Harding-Cox
election returns.  It was operated by Westinghouse.
