hotel gripes

Nowadays companies strive to provide customer service that goes above
and beyond what their competitors might do. Customer service training
courses teach that for a dissatisfied customer will tell a minimum of 20
other people of his poor experience. Congratulations -- you've beat
that number with the ListServ!

If you have a complaint about with a company -- in this case Adams Mark
-- tell them -- not the List. You might be pleasantly suprised at what
they might do to make up for their less than perfect service. If they
do not respond to your concerns, at least you have tried. But they
won't get better if you don't tell them. You need not "scare away"
their business. You have every right to boycott them yourself. I
prefer to give any business at least one chance to do a good job.

I had never attended a conference until 1998, and when I did go, it was
to one in my home state. Instead of staying in the hotel, I "camped" in
a fully equipped camping trailer at a nearby RV park. Yet I received
every courtesy from the hotel staff as if I had been a paying guest at
the hotel.
