Re: Terms in use - "Archives"

The National Archives & Records Administration - Northeast Region is offering two workshops in Providence, RI on March 14-15, 2000.
The classes will be held in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Conference Room, on the 6th floor of the Federal Building at 380 Westminster Mall. Each class runs form 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and the cost for each is $125 per person.

Basic Records Operations will be taught on Tuesday, March 14.
This one day workshop is designed to introduce employees concerned with files maintenance to the principles of designing, establishing, and maintaining a collection of records. Participants will be exposed to all aspects of a records disposition program including inventorying and storing records; preparation and use of records control schedules; identification of permanent records; and the transfer of records to the NARA. The principles discussed are basic to files management and are applicable to all Federal offices. The workshop will consist of lecture, slides, workshop problems, questions and answers.

Electronic Records Issues will be taught on Wednesday, March 15.
This one day workshop describes the general methods and techniques of all aspects of creation, maintenance, management, scheduling, and disposition of electronic records. The workshop will cover legal issues, e-mail, and other problems faced by Federal agencies.
