Re: Retention schedules for nonprofits

Mr. Roth,

I would be happy to share some procedural and function-specific information with you or answer questions "off-Listserv" late next week, but I cannot copy entire schedules. We recently completed a "total scheduling" for all 125+ functional areas (non-profit and for-profit units). I am fortunate to have been working directly for both our general counsel and CFO. The new schedules have permitted us to destroy over 7,000 cubic feet of valueless records since 1997. Our Archives includes over 2,000 cubic feet of records dating from the 1920s forward (we also microfilm and scan), and our records center now stays "level" at about 7,000 cubic feet.

Can anyone please tell me where to find retention
schedules specifically for private nonprofit
organizations. I'm trying to develop a records
management program for a mid-sized museum. Thanks.
