I have seen a goo remover, called something like Goo Go, Goo-Off, Goo-Gone,
at I think Jo-Ann Fabrics/Hancock Fabrics, as well as other places. It is a
liquid material, good for removing label glue, etc. Comes in a small plastic
bottle. I am not sure if the label claims it is good for woven or knit
fabrics. Worth a call to ask. The label should reveal the solvent used. I
wonder if Heloise would know? Isn't she the Lady of Stain?
