Re: Archives fire (about 70,000 pages of Veterans Affairs gets burned)

Hi All, According to the AP report about the fire at the National Archives, they talk about drying the papers out with hot air and blotters. My questions is this, why didn't they freeze dry the materials? We had small water damage during El Nino a few years ago and had the papers, magazines and photos freeze dried and they came out nearly perfect. Can someone please explain this to me? Ciao, Alison
