Re: staples, paperclips and stamps

I have been processing a large political collection for some time. There are huge numbers of extra/unnecessary staples, paper clips, rubber bands, and bulldog clips. I do all the removing of those things as well as straightening out bent corners, dividing very thick folders into two or more new folders, returning incorrectly filed items to their correct folders, and a variety of similar things as well as preparing folder descriptions and then series and subseries descriptions. If someone had gone before me and removed staples, paper clips, and other fasteners before me, I would never have known which items belonged together and which ones did not.
If I had put all of the bulldog clips into a single box rather than a separage box for each of the three different sizes, I would have a full cubic foot box of those things.
Try to do the processing in more than one stage with a different person doing each stage is, in my opinion, inefficient and can lead to some disasters of removing items from other items with they should remain associated.
