The Massachusetts Archives and Commonwealth Museum has an immediate job
opportunity for a

Public Programs Archivist

Summary:  The public programs archivist works as part of a team to develop
and present public programs to a variety of audiences including school
children, educators, genealogists, and the general public.  He/she will
organize public programs, conduct workshops, mount interpretive exhibits,
prepare curriculum and informational pieces, present in-school programs, and
lead field trips.  He/she will maintain records and systems to support
public programming at the Museum/Archives.

Job duties:
· Develops and conducts in-museum middle and high school programs
· Develops and conducts in-classroom programs
· Develops paper and electronic curriculum and activity materials
· Develops paper and electronic publicity materials
· Participates in researching, designing, and mounting exhibitions
· Organizes events, workshops, and meetings
· Participates in fundraising activities
· Manages the Museum and Archives website

Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in a humanities field, master' s degree preferred
· 2-5 years archival and/or education experience
· Classroom teaching experience preferred
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Facility with html, Access, Word, and similar programs
· Publicity and/or outreach experience preferred
· Knowledge of Massachusetts history and government 
· Ability to work independently or as part of a team
· Exceptional organizational skills
· Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple simultaneous tasks
· Creativity and enthusiasm

Salary:  $35,000
