COM outsourcing

Hi All,

Has anyone on the list had any experience either outsourcing or doing
in-house scanning for computer output to microfilm (COM)? My institution is
considering a project using a COM vendor -- I've always wanted to give this
a shot, to evaluate the true cost and other issues involved in deriving
both a microfilm and a digital copy of documents, in one step. I know the
equipment investment is $50K, ballpark, so outsourcing seems like a
reasonable consideration:)

Any vendor suggestions, or comments on reasonable quality expectations from
COM, would be appreciated greatly. Please do respond to the list, I think
others might be interested.

Sincerely,
Chuck Thomas
