                 *****PRESS RELEASE*****

Please do not release before April 4, 2000.

In cooperation with the US Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) the
National Knife Manufacturers Confederation (NKMC) - representing over 300
fabricators and distributors of knives and knife products through the nation
- has announced a recall of over 7.3 billion knives manufactured in the
United States since 1873.

The CPSC is aware of over 347,000,000 incidents involving knives which
resulted in injury ranging from scratches to complete evisceration. The
C-9467 and LM-81 models have been implicated in the greatest number of
incidents. The LM-81 model is especially notorious because of the
razorsharp blade which for years has facilitated irresponsible cutting.

The knives have been sold at cutlery, department and sporting goods stores
as well as at gas stations. Consumers are advised to return the knives to
the place of purchase for proper dulling. Failing that, owners should
scrape them repeatedly over bricks until no longer sharp.
