Awoman who hunted 11 years for a long-lost love finds him in a week after
moving her search online.
A man is contacted by a half-sister he never knew existed after she turns to
the Web.
While the privacy debate rages over companies that track your Web-surfing
habits, more and more ordinary people are using the Net's wealth of
information for their own searching -- or for snooping on neighbors.

Tornado leaves quite a paper trail in downtown Fort Worth
http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/20000410/t000033813.html

by Claudia Kolker
FORT WORTH--After the tornado--the winds of 113 mph that howled through Fort
Worth last month--at last there fell a silence. Silence, and a gently
gliding drift of paper, liberated from a thousand desks.
Wills and tax forms, checks and FBI files, the papers flying from
tornado-ruined offices were lifeblood for some businesses and agencies. For
others, though, the drifting documents meant just a hitch in work that
really takes place electronically--and resumed a few hours later.

Archivist sees city's shared past as a present
http://www.gomemphis.com/newca/local/e10arch.htm

by Jimmie Covington
As a youngster, John Dougan spent a lot of time in the Nevada County, Ark.,
courthouse.
His mother is a deed abstracter, and her office was in the courthouse in the
southwest Arkansas county. Dougan said his appreciation of the value of
governmental records likely began in those days.
As Shelby County government's new archivist, Dougan, 30, will be spending a
lot of time across the street from the Shelby County Courthouse and likely
will visit it often.
