The Ohio Historical Society seeks candidates for the position of
Ohio Memory Web Designer. This is a two-year contract position.
The incumbent will be responsible for creating, updating and
maintaining a web site for an online scrapbook commemorating
Ohio's history.

Responsibilities: The person in this position will design, develop
and manage the Ohio Memory Project web site, organize and
maintain HTML files and directories for a large web site, provide
technical assistance to project staff on the creation and
maintenance of web pages, digitize materials and
create graphics for presentation on the Web, perform
troubleshooting and debugging, evaluate and recommend
purchase of software/hardware, and perform other duties
as may be required for the efficient operation of the Archives/Library.

Typical Working Conditions: A majority of the work in this
position is performed in an office environment; some
takes place in library stack and storage areas.

Qualifications:
*       Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, History or related field
*       Demonstrated success in development and maintenance of a complex web
site
*       Knowledge of web architecture principles with understanding of
graphic design elements, strong working knowledge of web development
technologies, hardware and software, working knowledge of database
development, Perl, and JavaScript
*       Excellent visual and conceptual skills using various publishing
platforms (Photoshop, Dreamweaver).
*       Expertise with digitization hardware and software
*       Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate
effectively with both technical and non-technical groups
*       Ability to work as part of a team, to pay attention to detail and
meet deadlines
*       Ability to put ideas into tangible form
*       Familiarity with the principles and practices of archives and/or
museums
*       Knowledge of Ohio and United States history

Pay Range: 30  ($28,870 - $42,307)
