RAIN 04/24:Subpoenas



Today's Wall Street Journal has an article on titled: EMPLOYEES, LABOR BOARD
TEST WORKPLACE POLICIES ON E-MAIL. The article is about how some people are
using the National Labor Relations Act to attack email policies.

And for those of you who are followers of Messrs. Howard, Fine and Besser,
there is a treat below.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Independent Counsel Robert Ray has subpoenaed records
from the National Archives in an attempt to determine whether the White
House deliberately withheld electronic mail messages in an attempt to stymie
investigations pertaining to the Monica Lewinsky affair and other Clinton
Administration controversies, a government official told CNN on Monday.

Alaska Airlines scouring files after FAA points out problems

SEATTLE -- Alaska Airlines is reviewing the maintenance records of most of
its fleet after federal inspectors found two planes were prematurely
returned to service.
The airline agreed to the sweeping action after Federal Aviation
Administration inspectors discovered that the two planes were released from
maintenance work without required paperwork. The discovery came during a
"white-glove inspection" of Alaska's maintenance operations in Seattle,
Oakland and other cities.

Archives for information on White House record-keeping practices related to
a probe into thousands of missing e-mails, U.S. officials said on Monday.

HOUSTON - He was born a slave in Alabama, but Cornelius Matthews died a free
Texan.
One of thousands of slaves to outlive the Civil War, Mr. Matthews went on to
marry in a legal ceremony, father three children and register to vote.
His story was fast disappearing until historian Eric Walthers dredged it out
of aging Harris County documents.

After the San Francisco civil grand jury convened last year, members headed
to the library, hoping to get copies of reports from city agencies for their
research.
Jurors found so many of the documents missing, it warranted an investigation
of its own.
