Re: World War II slang



You'll find about 30 pages of slang re: WWII in "The Writer's Guide to
Everyday Life from Prohibition through World War II" by Marc McCutcheon,
Cincinnati, Writer's Digest Books, 1995.

Some samples:
"battery acid," "blackout" and "blackstrap" all referred to Army coffee.
Yummy!
"blonde and sweet" is coffee with cream and sugar, if you were in the
Navy.
The Marines referred to their coffee as "jamoke"
