DOVER - Strafford County Judge Tina Nadeau granted a Durham man's request to
view portions of the town's legal bills.
On Tuesday, Nadeau ruled in favor of a petition for injunctive relief filed
by Tom Christie in Strafford County Superior Court. He sued the town of
Durham and the town administrator for the right to view uncensored copies of
the town's legal bills.

The insurance business is a multibillion-dollar industry in California. Due
to the enormous impact the industry has on our lives, the state Department
of Insurance was separated from Business, Transportation and Housing Agency,
creating an independent department. Clearly the department's mission was
consumer protection through its investigation of claims, response to
inquiries and enforcement actions.

The hidden treasure for surveyor Phil Tuomala of Wilton and his crew was a
wooden spade.
For Robert Todd of Francestown and his helpers, it was a bone stuck in a
stone wall.
Both objects were listed on old deeds as marking corners of the property
they were trying to survey.
Todd didn't find the bone, of course.

The state Division of Motor Vehicles next week will no longer be free to
sell personal information about Utah car and truck owners.
The new state law will be a comfort to people weary of unsolicited calls for
specials on emission inspections, cracked windshield repairs and the like.
The law, which goes into effect Monday, also gives Utahns a greater sense of
privacy, said state Sen. Karen Hale, D-Salt Lake City.

Officials: Alaska Flight 261's records had suspicious entries
http://www.seattletimes.com/news/local/html98/alas21m_20000421.html

by Steve Miletich
Federal agents have found suspicious entries in the maintenance records of
the Alaska Airlines plane that crashed Jan. 31, according to government
officials familiar with the investigation.
Investigators are trying to determine whether test results of a 1997
inspection of the plane's jackscrew - a part suspected as a possible cause
of Flight 261's crash - were manipulated so the plane could be returned to
passenger service as quickly as possible, the officials said.
