Re: Vietnam Collections

I'd be curious to know if the institutions with collections on the Vietnam
War include the anti-war m ovements.

Mr. Fisher:

The Lyndon Baines Johnson Library in Austin, Texas, houses the White House
files of President Johnson, which contain extensive documentation about the
Vietnam War. We also have the personal papers of a number of individuals
and organizations, such as William Westmoreland, Clark Clifford, and the
Capital Legal Foundation, and an extensive collection of oral history
interviews which contain relevant material on the war.

Processing and making available material on the war has been one of the
Library's highest priorities since its inception, and we continue to open
new material, including the recordings and transcripts of President
Johnson's telephone conversations, which contain important insights into
the war.

Information on our holdings on Vietnam is available on the Library's web
site (http://www.lbjlib.utexas.edu). The site also contains transcripts of
a number of relevant oral history interviews and detailed descriptions of
the available telephone recordings.

For more information, contact the Supervisory Archivist at
http://www.library.johnson.nara.gov, or call (512) 916-5137, extension 234.
The Library's mailing address is LBJ Library 2313 Red River, Austin, Texas
 78705.

I thought it might be productive to expand this thread into a dialogue
relating to what we do. Who is collecting Vietnam material? At the
University of Denver we are now collecting material relating to civilian
women who served in Vietnam. A group known as the Circle of Sisters has
been depositing materials with us. Talk about unsung heroes ...

Anyone else want to share what they are collecting in this area?
