ASSISTANT ARCHIVIST Chase Manhattan Bank Archives

The Chase Manhattan Bank Archives seeks a part-time assistant archivist. Chase Manhattan Bank is one of the country's premier global financial institutions. The bank has enthusiastically supported an archival program for over 25 years - and this year is no exception with two exciting projects beginning next month. The Archives will be working with an exhibit designer to design and install a permanent exhibit at the corporate headquarters by year end, and will be initiating an oral history program mid-year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work in tandem with the Senior Assistant Archivist on administrative procedures and practices at the archives, including navigating finding aids and the handling of reference requests. Provide research and database support for the two new projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MLS or MA in history with a concentration in archival management. Minimum of one year of experience, with excellent communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and database management a plus. Must be capable of lifting 40 pound boxes.

SALARY:

$22/hour. This consulting position is 3 days/week beginning in June 2000 for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension.
