Senior Archivist/Associate Archivist

An international financial services organization headquartered in Tacoma,
WA, Russell provides investment products to individual and institutional
investors in over 30 countries.  The firm manages assets in excess of $60
billion, and is searching for a top-performing Senior Archivist for its
Legal-Corporate Records Group.

This individual will have responsibilities that embrace all stages of the
records continuum.  The Archivist develops and implements mechanisms for the
creation and maintenance of reliable, authentic, and accessible records of
continuing value to Frank Russell Company (FRC). The position develops
standards and practices that facilitate the identification, description,
communication, longevity, and access of both traditional and electronic
forms of archival documentation to fulfill legal and institutional mandates
and to preserve the corporate memory.  In addition, this individual helps to
establish corporate archives and subsequently promotes and assist associates
as they seek to explain the past, support accountability, and provide
guidance for the future.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include.

        *       Through business process analysis and other informational
sources the Archivist documents the context in which FRC records were
created, the uses for which they were intended, their content, and their
relationship to other documentary sources in order to ensure that reliable
and authentic records are created and available for appropriate use
        *       Identifies legal, regulatory, and business requirements for
FRC records (including content, retention, access, and media requirements)
and then applies these requirements in evaluating FRC records maintained in
legacy paper and electronic information systems in order to establish
retention and disposition requirements for the records and to identify
archival records for preservation and continued accessibility
        *       Preserves, protects, and makes accessible, pursuant to
records inspection regulations, corporate archival records. This includes
preserving records in a protective environment and in a format or media that
will remain usable over time; providing descriptive tools to identify the
records and their content and context of creation, and ensuring authorized
disclosure of archival records
        *       In-depth knowledge of best practices regarding archives
management including long-term access and preservation of electronic
archival records
        *       Assists in developing guidelines for the management of the
Corporate Archives and promotes the use of the archives within Russell
Knowledgeable about global telecommunications, information technologies, and
business and marketing initiatives and their application at FRC.
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and
experiences including the following:
        *       Knowledge of archival theory, methodology, and practice
        *       Knowledge of modern principles and procedures of records and
archives
        *       Knowledge of electronic recordkeeping and electronic records
management - including federal and state laws and regulations related to the
financial services industry
        *       Knowledge of archives operations, including automated
control systems
        *       Knowledge of life cycle management, project planing, systems
analysis, design and implementation (requirements analysis, records
analysis, business process analysis) skills
        *       Ability to appraise records according to their business
needs and legal/regulatory requirements
        *       Ability to conduct an educational and informational program
        *       Ability to prepare records disposition plans for business
records
        *       Strong analytical and problem solving skills, ability to
multi-task, manage interruptions
        *       Ability to think conceptually and view projects and issues
within a broad business context
        *       (e.g., beyond the scope of the project and position)
        *       Works well with change and ambiguous projects; takes
responsibility for creating structures and adjust to circumstances
        *       Strong negotiation, consultative sales, and relationship
abilities and skills
        *       Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally
and in writing
Russell specific business knowledge and knowledge of Russell's technology
infrastructure desired
Associate Archivist:
        *       Minimum of four years archival experience, preferably in a
business environment or institutional setting
Senior Archivist:
        *       Eight plus years archival experience, preferably in a
business environment or institutional setting
        *       Financial Services industry experience desired
        *       Certified Archivist
Degree/Education required:
        *       MIS, MLS, MAS or Master's degree in research-oriented field
with course work in archival theory and information management.
