Re: Jobs

I'm actually glad I touched off a useful thread for a change, instead of sending
folks off on another comparison of archival stereotypes in Hollywood and TV.

Just to respond to Norma's point about the HR people trying to underpay the
positions, I think all of us could probably live with a salary range. Go ahead
and say "low 30's", or "maximum $32,000", or whatever clearly illustrates where
the job fits. I don't expect a job in Tennessee (just to pick on Norma) to pay
what a job in NYC costs, but it's a heckuva lot cheaper to live there than it is
here in NY.

I said it in the original post - I don't expect a dollar figure, but it's really
unfair of an employer to say "good salary and benefits". For all I know that
means "casual summers". Believe me, I'll wear a tie and jacket every day if I
have to, but you've got to pay me enough to live on. My biggest complaint is
always that the employers expect a level of professionalism out of us, but in
this case feel they don't have the same obligation to the employed by posting
the pittances they have to toss us.
