Transfer of 16mm films with vinegar syndrome

This query is for those who have experience with
converting 16mm films that have vinegar syndrome (VS) to
VHS.

-Using RTI-AD Strip measurements, at what point
does it become inadvisable or impossible to do transfers?

-Does wet cleaning the VS film before transfer cut down
on the residues that might be left behind on equipment used
for the transfer? If so, is there an AD strip measurement
after which the wet cleaning might not be effective in
cutting down on the residues?

_How is equipment used for VS films best cleaned after
transfer/projection to clean residues that might have been
left behind?

Thanks in advance for your advice!
