Re: Jobs



     After having read all these very valid complaints about job listings
     with no salary mentioned I am feeling energized to do something about
     it.  Isn't there some way to use the collective power of this list to
     take action?

     It seems to me that many of the job listings are posted for places
     that don't actually have anyone on this list so they aren't going to
     see the gripes.  So how about the next time someone asks you to post a
     job ad on this listserv you politely mention that the people on the
     list respond much better to at least an estimate or salary range.

     Or we could even ask SAA to make it a requirement that job ads listed
     with them at least give some clue as to the salary.  Who knows if it
     would work but we could at least ASK.

     Or next time you see a job ad with no salary range maybe the
     institution should be the recipient of a bunch of polite emails from
     archivists pointing out that they wouldn't even consider pursuing this
     job without a listed salary.

     Just a thought.
