 PROCESSING ARCHIVIST
Chemical Heritage Foundation
 

Job Description: This part-time (a minimum of 15 hours to a maximum of 20 hours per week) temporary position is primarily responsible for gaining intellectual control over an extensive off-site archive by unpacking, sorting, and re-housing manuscript collections in preparation for accessioning and cataloging. Duties include conducting research on Nobel Prize Laureates and National Medal of Science Recipients, organizing materials according to archival principles, and preparing finding aids.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: B.A. in history; knowledge and general understanding of PC-based computer applications in word processing.  Requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently with attention to detail, demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to lift 40 pound boxes. Experience handling archival materials is necessary.  A background in physical chemistry is helpful, but not essential.

Salary: Hourly rate of $12.00.
