Re: Russian collections in US

For Lynn and interested others:
The Immigration History Research Center (IHRC) at the University of
Minnesota is an international resource on American immigration and ethnic
history. The IHRC collects, preserves, and makes available archival and
published resources documenting immigration and ethnicity on a national
scope. These materials are particularly rich for ethnic groups that
originated in eastern, central, and southern Europe and the Near East --
those who came to this country during the great wave of migration that
gained momentum in the 1880s and peaked in the first decades of this
century. IHRC's Russian-American collection is highlighted on our web site
at: <http://www1.umn.edu/ihrc/russian.htm>. Most of our books and
manuscript materials are cataloged and available through the U of MN's OPAC
at: <http://www.lib.umn.edu/books/>. Our newspaper and serials titles
(not yet available on-line) are mainly from America, but the collection
contains a couple of items from Canada. Additionally, we have Michael
Anuta's genealogical library that includes many reference materials
relating to Germans from Russia. Let me know if you need additional
information.

Assistant Curator
