Re: Dictaphonograph??

Just as a reminder to David and any other interested parties on this
list if you have any "strange" audio media (cylinders, dictabelts,
wires, discs and tapes) I'm the one to talk to. What you have described
sounds like something I've worked on before. Just having the old
original machine isn't good enough. Old machines can damage old media. I
have a modern custom made turntable, with variable speeds and about 70
different types of custom made styli that should be able to track the
groove. We also have to hope that the person who made the recording did
a decent job, or we'll find that there isn't much to listen to. I'll be
back in the office on Monday the 31st if you want to give me a call.

Greetings,

I popped my head into one of our collections and across a small
platter that looked much like an 45 Single or a mini-LP. The
sprocket hole is square rather than circular. It is quite flimsy.
Playing it on a "newer" phonograph brought forth two tracks of
audio and a lot of slipping and sliding. Playing it on a old, I mean
OLD, phonograph brought forth one track but a lot of pops and
hisses.

This, and I'm sure the dozens of others in the collection (not clearly
described) contains dictation, etc. Is there a "dictaphonograph"
player out there or can someone point me in a direction (politely)?

Thanks, in advance,
