JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to provide access to and control of active,
inactive, and archival records, with a primary focus on customer service.  The
job is extremely complex because it requires professional-level work in both
records management and archives.   Duties include managing active record filing
systems, managing the inactive records program, processing archival accessions,
consulting with individuals and departments, providing reference and research
services, and prioritizing work flow.  Works one-on-one with the other records
manager / archivist to coordinate workflow and management of the program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service:  Consult with individual customers and departments in the
application of International SEMATECH records management policies and
procedures.  Participate in marketing efforts and provide training and
consultation services.  Handle customer requests for transferring inactive
records to storage and donating materials to the corporate Archives.  Respond to
customer requests for retrieving inactive records and provide reference services
for archival materials.
Documentation Control:  Maintain database of inactive records and archival
accessions; create new records as accessions are received, track activity, and
compile statistics.  Maintain secure facilities for storing inactive and
archival records.  Provide physical control of records to ensure accessibility.
Evaluate current policies and procedures and revise as necessary to improve
document control activities.  Create and maintain departmental and corporate Web
pages.
Archival Control: Maintain current archival series and provide finding aids.
Accession, rehouse, and index project-related archives.  Appraise, accession,
arrange and describe historical materials that are transferred to the Archives.
Work with donors to compile complete and accurate historical contexts for
archival accessions.  Follow departmental standards and procedures to index
records and create finding aids.   Evaluate current policies and procedures and
revise as necessary to improve the quality of the information contained within
the archives.
Other projects and duties as assigned.   Some travel required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Masters in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA accredited
institution with relevant coursework in archival enterprise and records
management.  Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to plan.  Initiative and resourcefulness.  Organized and thorough in
work habits.  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a fairly regular basis.

Preferred: 1-2 years records and archives experience in a corporate/engineering
environment, including: (a) administration of inactive records storage programs:
(b) administration of records retention schedules; (c) knowledge of archival
management principles including cataloging and preservation.  Familiarity with
basic office software. BASIS/Plus experience desirable.
