Another (last?) word on scrapbook preservation

Not mentioned was the option of microfilming of the intellectual/historical content of scrapbooks. Conservation of the original materials is fine, if possible (given the tape, glue, newsprint, older paper and inks, etc.), but if you would like to provide the scrapbook information to future researchers, I would suggest preservation 35mm microfilming of the contents. (And in the future, if needed, you could always have the microfilm scanned for digital uses.)
Having done many scrapbook projects, with much of the materials being from the 19th century, this seems the wisest approach beyond just conserving the actual pages/contents--and perhaps a more versatile option than just photocopying.
Best wishes,
