ARCHIVES & RECORDS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST 2, SG-18

LOCATION: Albany, NY
SALARY: $35,945*

The State Archives is seeking to fill an Archives and Records Management Specialist 2 position assigned to Electronic Records Services.

The Archives and Records Management Specialist 2 in Electronic Records Services will develop a working knowledge of micrographics and electronic records; assist in the development of State Archives services related to micrographics and electronic records management; maintain and improve web-based services and publications; assist in development of micrographics and electronic records workshops and publications; assist in the administration of micrographics grants to local governments; present workshops on micrographics and electronic records; carry out research in emerging micrographics, electronic records and hybrid technologies; advise field staff who provide micrographics instruction and advice to local governments and state agencies; monitor and ensure the quality of microfilm produced under Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund (LGRMIF) grants; serve as secretariat to the Micrographics Committee of Local Government Records Advisory Council (LGRAC).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be reachable on the Archives and Records Management Specialist 2 list, the Archivist 2 list or the Senior Public Records Management Specialist list, OR be eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law, OR have a master's degree in history, government, business or public administration, political science, American studies, library science, information science, or archival administration AND have two years of experience in which the preponderance of duties involve: A) analyzing or appraising records and information systems to develop recordkeeping and/or records retention plans for an institution, governmental body, or corporation; B) providing education, training, grant-in-aid, or direct technical assistance services in records management and/or archives administration; C) developing or implementing guidelines, standards, policies and procedures concerning records management and/or archives administration; D) evaluating available information technology to support recordkeeping needs and requirements of an institution, governmental body or corporation; E) acquiring, controlling, preserving, making available, or promoting use of archival records.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $44,739, based on annual performance advances.
