Re: Forwarding of E-mails

Dear Peter,

I have only been working in this field for two months and the caller told me
that someone from Ohio (I am in New Orleans, Louisiana)forwarded the message
to them.

| Or could it be that the caller is a quiet lurker on this list and saw
your

which

| But am I condoning the forwarding of your name to the vendor without your

name
| from other sources or means at their disposal.

|
| Dear Listmembers,
|
| Has anyone had trouble with some listmembers forwarding list queries to
| commercial companies? Recently I was cold called by an archival imaging
| company and someone else was contacted by a company that I recommended to
| them.
|
| I just want to let those who are not familiar with this point of
netiquette
| know that it is improper to forward e-mail, especially in an information
| gathering forum such as this. You should provide the company's or
| institution's contact information and allow the recipient to decide when
| (and if) to contact those individuals.
|
| Sincerely,
