Policies on Retention of Records and Data

We are currently working on a major update of our policy on retention of
records and data.

Our policy addresses the necessity of retention scheduling and review
procedures, how to dispose of departing employees' records, and the goals
for setting retention periods in our organization. It also outlines the
general responsibilities of our Records Retention, Vital Records, and
Archives areas, explains when retention periods are established, and
defines records of short-, intermediate-, and long-term value within our
organization. This document will function as the corporate policy which
underlies our more detailed archives collection policy and records retention
schedules.

Would anyone be willing to share a similar policy from their organization?
Our policy has reached final draft form, and we are about to seek final
approval in order to implement it as corporate policy. However, I
have been asked to gather several similar policies from other organizations
in order to help our administrators evaluate our document.

If other archivists or records managers have produced similar documents, and
would be willing to share them, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you very much.

Amy
