Re: copyright questions



Hi Peter,

I'm sorry we won't be seeing you at SAA this week but I think you have your
priorities straight--you can go to the conference another year, but
launching a chick from the nest to higher education is a unique experience
which should not be missed.

I was interested to see that you are writing a copyright manual for
archivists.  I am busy writing a guide to copyright for researchers in
Canadian libraries and archives.  There already exists a guide to the
Canadian Act for archivists, but it does not really deal with the policy
decisions an archivist has to make, so a guide to institutional policy
decisions is my next writing project.  I think copyright education in all
fields is very important so I'm glad to hear about your work.

Someone recommended "The Digital Dilemma: Intellectual Property in the
Information Age" published this year by National Academy Press.  I have
looked at it on NAP's web site and it looks good.
