Re: Archiving Websites
The National Library of Australia is running a project to preserve websites
which it considers part of the nation's published heritage. The project is
called PANDORA. It's been running since 1996. There's quite a bit of
technical detail there on how they capture and preserve the sites. The URL
is http://pandora.nla.gov.au/pandora/
The National Library also host a brilliant subject gateway to digital
preservation resources. There is a lot of stuff listed there on
preservation of online materials (in the Formats and Media section). The
URL is http://pandora.nla.gov.au/padi/

Subject: Archiving Websites
May we pick up this thread again. I realize there has been a sporadic
discussion on the list for years. In early August it surfaced again, and
Cal
Lee's response to a query was excellent. He pointed to some of the main
problems involved and several pieces of software and how they worked. I was
hoping more listers would respond giving their 'best practices' but have
not
seen any other contributions. I even checked the archives to make sure I
didn't miss any.
So, anyone out there archiving websites? What are you using? How well does
it work?
