Re: Door Count Device



Michael,

My experience with automatic door counters has revealed one problem. They
not only count patrons who walk through the research room but also any
staff, which lessens the accuracy of your patron statistics. I agree with
Kim Scott that having people sign is a more accurate representation of your
patrons.

We have a very old system consisting of portals that the patron passes
through as he/she leaves.  It is a combination counter/security gate that
counts the patron as he/she leaves the library and sets off an alarm if
something is being secreted out.  I believe it was made by 3M.
