Primary sources in the history of scientific computing for annotated bibliography

Dear friends,

I am posting this for a non-archivist historian colleague. PLEASE reply directly to him, NOT to the listserv or to me.

Many thanks,
Beth

Seeking primary sources in the history of scientific computing for annotated bibliography

As part of a National Science Foundation project, I am compiling and annotating a book-length bibliography on the history of scientific computing, to be published in 2001. The bibliography includes primary and secondary sources that document the use or context of computers in the physical (physics, chemistry, and geology), biological, cognitive (artificial intelligence and psychology), and medical sciences (computers in medical research, monitoring, diagnosis, epidemiology, and hospital information systems), as well as how developments in these areas of the sciences affected technical aspects, markets, and government funding in the field of information processing between 1945 and 1975.

While I have found many citations in RLIN and other resources, I realize that there are many collections with relevant materials that my searches would not have picked up. I also realize that there are important materials at repositories that do not submit records to RLIN. I hope to make the bibliography as complete as possible and would be very grateful for information from archivists and special collections librarians at repositories that hold relevant primary materials.
