POSITION AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY

RESEARCH SERVICES ASSOCIATE
THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF PENNSYLVANIA

Full time (40 hr/wk); Tuesday - Saturday, Wednesday evening.  Annual
Salary:  $25,000+.

Individual will work with the Research Room staff in providing assistance
to on- and off-site users of the Society?s special collections library.

Primary responsibilities include the retrieving and re-shelving of
requested manuscript and published materials; monitoring Research Room
activities to assure proper handling and security of collections items; and
assorted activities in support of Research Room and Research By Mail
functions (photocopy, data entry, brief replies to research queries, etc.).

A qualified candidate must have a B.A. in History, American Studies or
related field.  Library or archives experience preferred.  Knowledge and
interest in local or regional history useful.  Some knowledge of computers
also useful.  Must be energetic, helpful, creative, and team-oriented.
Should be tolerant of dust and able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. of
boxed material.
