Re: Dutch Elm Disease



Not to be picky but...the grand tree of the American town is the
American elm (though other species and varieties may also be affected).
The Dutch identified the disease when it struck their trees in The
Netherlands.  They are not Dutch elms and the Dutch did not cause the
disease.  (although it may have first arrived in Europe via the "Dutch"
East Indies!)
