Re: Dutch Elm Disease



The New Haven Green (common in the rest of New England) used to have numerous elms, including a grouping shaped like a crown.  I remember seeing pictures of this when I was growing up, and there should be photos of this at the New Haven Historical Society, or possibly the New Haven Public Library.

New Haven, CT, is called the Elm City. The name remains even though
the trees are gone. I'm guessing that New Haven repositories would
have some relevant pictures.

Also, Cornell University used to have elm trees lining a major campus
street. There were no trees there at all for many years until they
recently replanted a few years back.
