A Description Dilemma SOLVED

Dear Colleagues,

I want to thank everyone who responded to my query. When I titled my posting
A Description Dilemma, I thought everyone would have understood that what I
needed was help to properly phrase my descriptions of these letters. I had
no intention to separate them from their context, nor give them away, nor
distroy them, although some of the responses reacted as if I had indicated
those unarchival actions.

I've received the advice I wanted and intent to use the phrasing "an unsigned
letter of a personal nature using sexually explicit and graphic language."

For those of you who referred me to "The Story the Soldiers Wouddn't tell --
Sex in the Civil War" by Thomas P. Lowry, M.D., I want to let you know that
Dr. Lowry contacted me and said "I would be interested in including copies of
your explicit letters in a future book."

I had some research requests, too. When you consider that the National Civil
War Museum (NCWM) in Harrisburg, PA is still under construction, I thank the
Listserv for putting our archival collection on the map.

Again, my thanks.

Sincerely,
Elayne M. Goyette, Assistant Archivist
The National Civil War Museum, Harrisburg, PA
