Re: College/University Archives

Mt. St. Mary's College and Seminary was founded in 1808. The first
yearbooks (called the Pridwin) were published sporadically between 1915 and
1925, and from 1949 on. The catalogs functioned as yearbooks prior to that.
The first catalogs (called calendars) were published in 1836 and 1837, and
then from 1854 on. (Don't know about the intervening years.) Photographs
began to be included before the turn of the century. The early catalogs
listed the students, faculty, and officers, and, quoting from my finding aid
(ahem), "the awards and degrees they attained. Later catalogs list
athletics, scholarships, endowed prizes, honors recipients, programs, and
student organizations and societies."
