                                           Archivist Position Available


                           The University of Texas at San Antonio Library
seeks
                           applications for the position of Archivist to
provide leadership and
                           professional expertise in the management of the
collections, staff,
                           services, and projects of the archives unit of
the Special
                           Collections and Archives department located at
the Institute of
                           Texan Cultures.

                           Duties:  Administer and manage the unit including
general
                           planning, policies and procedures, personnel,
collections, donor
                           relations, and public service.  Promote the
archives program and
                           enhance researcher access to collections.

                           Qualifications:
                           Required - ALA -accredited MLS degree with
advanced course
                           work in archival theory and methodology, minimum
of two years
                           full-time professional archives experience.
Supervisory
                           experience.  Demonstrated ability to work
collaboratively.
                           Superior written and oral communication skills,
excellent
                           instruction/presentation skills. Knowledge of
standards; i.e.
                           USMARC, HTML, and EAD.
                           Prefer - Second masters degree complimentary to
subject
                           collecting areas; ability to read and speak
Spanish or German.
                           Progressively responsible experience with all
aspects of archival
                           work.  Experience with instructional
technologies, writing and
                           administering grants, and designing web pages.

                           Salary:  Minimum $35,000.  Includes benefits.
