Re: acid-free copy paper

I took a preservation class several years ago in which the teacher pointed out that because of EPA standards for effluent from paper mills, the paper-making process has changed so that, generally, photocopy paper that you buy off the shelf today is at least neutral, and therefore can be used for archival photocopying.

We began using Boise Cascade's X-9000 in 20lb weight a number of years ago
for photocopying. Out of curiosity, I checked it with a ph pen and got a
little purple line. While it doesn't guarantee that it's acid free, it's at
least neutral and safe for archival retention.

Subject: acid-free copy paper

I am photocopying newspaper articles and want to know what type of
acid-free paper is acceptable to use since I have a large volume of
copies to make. I am in a public library that acquired a private
collection of papers and photographs/slides that we are processing for
public access.
