Fwd: Re: evidence of conspiracies

Satan is a professional, and he does his work better than any of us
can ever hope to do.

Someone said that BS might stand for Biblical Studies, well, that
broadens it to the Jewish faith, too, and I wonder how many Jews
would like to believe that the Library of Congress has classified their
religion as BS? Not many, I'll bet!!!

As for inaccurate, maybe it was in part, I am no cataloger, but the
point is still valid, the BS call number will lead persons to materials
about the Christian Religion. Arguing that small mistakes invalidate this
point is like criticizing someone who says the Nazis killed 5.9 million
rather than 6.0 million persons. Either number is horrific just as is
catagorizing Christians and Jews as followers of a BS religion!

I pity the individual who has nothing better to do than to write such
nonsense to the list, and suggest that the Library of Congress has
nothing better to do than sit around and figure out how they might
catorgize one subject heading to discredit the material contained
within it. Please we are professionals and so are the people who work
in the Library of Congress!!

I'll start with the assumption that this is a joke, but will comment
on the accuracy of its statements nonetheless.

Nope. There is no single LC category for "Christianity." Biblical
studies is categorized as BS, but the categories BR, BT, and BV are
also exclusively devoted to Christian topics. Books on various aspects
of Christianity, of course, show up under a wide variety of other
categories as well. One could as well argue that the large number of
separate categories for Christian topics actually suggests a
conspiracy on the part of the Library of Congress (and hence the
entire government) to support the claims of Christianity. Just for the
record, I'm not alleging such a conspiracy.

Would that include E for "Emerican History"? In fact, the LC
categories rarely match the subject material. N is art, P is
literature, R is for medicine, etc. One could argue that BS actually
stands for "Biblical Studies," though I don't know if that's what was
actually intended.

If this were a satire on the religious right, it could have been
written more accurately. If it was a genuine diatribe, then it
probably met the usual standards of accuracy for that genre.
