The La Guardia and Wagner Archives of La Guardia Community College, The City University of New York and the New York City Municipal Archives seeks a person with a background in archival practice, and late 20th century NYC politics, to process the papers of Mayor Abraham D. Beame.
The successful candidate should posses knowledge of standard rules and practices for surveying, arranging and describing archival collections. Under the direction of the Deputy Director of the New York Municipal Archives, the project Archivist will survey the papers, determine arrangement, evaluate series in terms of prioritizing them for processing and will prepare a written finding aid conforming to guidelines of the sponsoring agencies.
A Bachelor's degree in history or a related field with archival specialization is required. Master's degree, knowledge of recent New York City political history and previous processing experience strongly preferred.
This is a joint project of the La Guardia and Wagner Archives and New York City Municipal Archives.
Salary: $26,047 to $36,255
